# Workspaces

Organize your NationGraph experience with workspaces. Separate accounts, territories, or teams for cleaner workflows.

### What are Workspaces?

Workspaces let you segment your NationGraph experience by team, territory, or account type. Each workspace can have its own Signal filters, field mappings, and sync rules.

This is especially useful for organizations with multiple sales teams, regional coverage, or different go-to-market motions.

Creating a Workspace
{% endembed %}

Start in **Settings → Workspaces**. Click **Create a workspace**.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### CSV mapping

Upload a CSV of the institutions you want to target.

Map one primary field: **name**, **NationGraph ID**, **NCES**, **FIPS**, or **IPEDS**.

NationGraph also reads secondary fields like **domain**, **city**, and **state**.

Choose the right **institution type** before you review results.

Check the **confidence score** for each match.

Open alternate options when a row maps to the wrong institution.

Use **show duplicates** to remove repeated institutions.

Lower the confidence threshold to find and remove low-confidence matches.

When the results look right, create and name the workspace.

For the full CSV and CRM flow, see [Map accounts from CSV or CRM](/nationgraph/help-center/readme/workspaces/map-accounts-from-csv-or-crm.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### By institution name

Search **higher ed** or **K-12** by institution name.

For example, search **Alabama** inside **K-12**, then choose the correct district.

Enter the full institution name and create the workspace.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### By code

Enter one or more **NCES** codes.

Select **K-12** or **higher ed**.

Separate multiple codes with commas, then search and create the workspace.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### By territory

This is one of the most common ways to create a workspace.

Filter by **institution type**, **state**, and **size**.

For example, target **K-12 districts** in **California** with more than about **2,000 students**.

Click **Preview** to review the matching set.

In the video example, **511 districts** match.

You can create the first **300**, split the set across multiple workspaces, or create more than one workspace.

Smaller workspaces improve search speed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### By purchase order or competitor

This is one of the most common ways to create a workspace.

Search one or more competitor names, like **Turnitin**, then press Enter.

Click **Preview** to see where that competitor is sold.

Start broad across institution types, then narrow to **K-12** or **higher ed**.

In the video example, **Turnitin** drops from about **1,600** institutions to about **1,000** after narrowing to **K-12**.

Create one or more workspaces and **load in those purchase orders**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Territory stats

**Settings → Territories** now includes a high-level stats module.

Use it to quickly review territory coverage and recent activity before you adjust settings or sync workflows.

Territory views now focus on active institutions by default. Institutions with matching Signals still appear when relevant.

**Important**

Changes to settings affect new data only. Existing records won't be retroactively updated unless you trigger a manual re-sync.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://nationgraph.gitbook.io/nationgraph/help-center/readme/workspaces.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
