# Navigate & Use Signals

Learn how to navigate your Signals inbox, organize with lists, and share insights with your team.

Use this guide to work the Signals inbox, review template results, and act on each signal.

## Signals Overview

### Templates and template-level actions

Use **Signals → Templates** to review the templates that are currently running.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Review template results

See the current template list with its signals, last signal, keywords, exclusions, and look-back or created date.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click a template

Open a template to see every signal generated by that template.

Unread signals have a visible indicator. Opening an unread signal marks it as read.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click **Edit**

Use **Edit** to add context or keywords.

Edits affect the next day’s run.

Edits do **not** delete existing signals.

If you remove a keyword, the signals that already surfaced stay in place. The template simply reruns with the new settings on the next run.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

***

### Signal detail

Select a signal from the compact inbox list to open its details alongside the list. You can keep your place while reviewing the full context behind each match.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Review the signal

The detail pane keeps the signal score, account, date, source, keywords, CRM status, summary, original sources, and matched contacts in one continuous view.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Review supporting signals

**Supporting signals** shows other signals found for the same account by the same template, ranked by score.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Check the activity timeline

The timeline records activity such as detection, scoring, first view, list changes, sharing, CRM pushes, drafted emails, read-state changes, and dismissal.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Move through the inbox

Use the up and down arrow keys to review signals sequentially without returning to the list each time.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Open an original source

Open the source content that triggered the match. When the source is a video, use the key-moment marker to jump to the relevant part of the conversation.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click **Generate Email**

This sends you to the account under **Emails**.

Choose a contact, such as a director, and NationGraph drafts the message from your organization context plus the signal content.

You can tweak the prompt before you generate the draft.

Click **Send** to open Gmail.

If Gmail permissions are not enabled yet, use the separate video below.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

***

### Search your inbox

Use search in **Signals** to find matching signals across your current results.

Search helps when you need to:

* find a specific institution
* revisit older signals without rebuilding filters
* scan for repeated topics across multiple results

Search works well with filters. Narrow the inbox first, then search inside that result set.

***

### Sort and filter the inbox

Signals are ranked by score by default. You can also sort by:

* recency
* signal volume for the account
* contact count
* account type

Use filters to narrow the inbox by:

* minimum signal score
* created date
* included or excluded territories
* source
* read or unread status
* account type
* signal template
* list
* state

Filters can be combined to focus the inbox on the signals most relevant to your work.

### Save your filters as a view

Save a useful combination of filters as a named view, then select it to return to the same filters in one click.

For example, keep a view for unread signals in your territory and another for RFP signals in a state you cover.

See [Save and use Signal views](/nationgraph/help-center/readme/signals-overview/save-and-use-signal-views.md) for the steps.

***

### Lists

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Create a new list

Click **New List** and give it a descriptive name, such as **California Healthcare Opportunities** or **Q1 Priority Accounts**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Add Signals to lists

From any Signal, click the list icon to add it to one or more lists. You can also bulk-select Signals.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Bulk actions

Select multiple signals to:

* mark them as read or unread
* save them to a list
* dismiss them

Use **Clear selection** when you want to exit bulk selection without changing the selected signals.

***

### Sharing Signals

{% hint style="info" %}
Copy a signal link when you want a coworker to review the same result fast.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Select the Signal to share

Open the signal and copy the link.

The link opens in a new tab, so you can drop it into **Slack** or **Teams** for a coworker to view and interact with.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

***

### View coworker Signals from Slack & email

You can open a coworker’s Signal directly from Slack or email notifications.

Both of you must have NationGraph accounts.

This makes it easier to:

* Stay aligned across teams
* Review opportunities surfaced by teammates
* Act quickly without switching contexts

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose the contact and prompt

Pick the contact you want to email.

NationGraph drafts the message from your organization context and the signal details.

Adjust the prompt if you want a different angle before you generate the draft.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click **Send**

Gmail opens with the draft prefilled.

If you prefer, you can also copy the message first.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### CRM and automation handoff

Save signals to a list when you want a reusable working set.

If you want to sync signals into downstream tools, use the dedicated integration guides:

* [HubSpot Integration](/nationgraph/help-center/readme/integration-overview/crm-integrations/hubspot-integration.md)
* [Salesforce Integration](/nationgraph/help-center/readme/integration-overview/crm-integrations/salesforce-integration.md)
* [Zapier Integration](/nationgraph/help-center/readme/integration-overview/crm-integrations/zapier-integration.md)

***

### Active RFPs in Signals

Signals also include **Active RFPs** as a data source.

From today onward, all newly generated Signals will automatically scan Active RFPs alongside existing data sources to surface relevant opportunities.

What to expect:

* RFP-based Signals will begin appearing immediately
* No configuration changes required
* Signals are evaluated across RFPs and other sources together for richer context

This unlocks earlier visibility into live buying activity without additional manual monitoring.

***

### Signal Source Labeling

Each signal in the inbox includes metadata that helps you triage quickly. Open it in the detail pane for the complete context.

You can quickly review:

* signal score
* state
* when the signal came in
* keywords caught
* data type
* institution type
* institution name
* CRM status

The source label also shows which data source the signal originated from, such as:

* RFPs
* YouTube
* Meeting minutes
* Budget
* other supported sources

This makes prioritization easier and gives teams better context when reviewing and acting on Signals.

***

### Meeting Transcripts & YouTube in Signals

Signals can now be generated from:

* Meeting transcripts
* YouTube channels

This opens up new ways to capture intent, themes, and activity across public and internal conversations.

* New signal settings will automatically re-run with this data source
* Old signal settings going forward will automatically run with this data source
* To re-run old signal settings with this new data source. Please contact us

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://nationgraph.gitbook.io/nationgraph/help-center/readme/signals-overview/navigate-and-use-signals.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
