# Notifications

Review NationGraph activity and configure optional email or Slack delivery.

Notifications bring important NationGraph activity into one in-app inbox. You receive a notification when NationGraph finds a new opportunity or produces an update that is relevant to you.

Open **Notifications** from the sidebar to see unread, all, or archived notifications.

### Notification types

NationGraph can notify you about:

* new RFPs or grants that match a saved view with match alerts enabled
* completed FOIA contract results
* supported Automation completions or failures
* matches produced by a Ranked Automation
* followed RFPs that are due soon

{% hint style="info" %}
RFP and grant match alerts require a saved view with selective filters. Select the saved view and turn on its bell to enable alerts.
{% endhint %}

### Notification channels

| Channel                       | Delivery                                                                                                          |
| ----------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **In-app notification inbox** | Supported notifications are delivered here. |
| **Email** | Mirrors in-app notifications when you enable real-time email alerts. |
| **Slack** | Mirrors in-app notifications when you enable real-time Slack alerts and choose a connected workspace and channel. |

Email and Slack are optional. Enabling either channel adds delivery; it does not replace the notification in NationGraph.

### Configure real-time alerts

Open the notification inbox and select the settings icon, or go to **Settings → Notifications**. Enable **Real-time alerts** for email, Slack, or both.

To use Slack, first connect a workspace, then choose the channel for that subscription. You can also enable a separate Signal digest for email or Slack. See [Communications Integrations](/nationgraph/help-center/readme/integration-overview/communications-integrations.md).

### Manage notifications

Select a notification to open the related item. Use the notification menu to mark it read or unread, archive it, or restore it from the archived tab. You can also mark all notifications as read.

### Troubleshooting

If you do not receive an expected notification:

1. Check the in-app notification inbox first.
2. For an RFP or grant saved view, confirm that its bell is on and its filters still match the opportunity.
3. For email or Slack, confirm that **Real-time alerts** are enabled.
4. For Slack, confirm that the integration is connected and the subscription has a channel selected.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://nationgraph.gitbook.io/nationgraph/help-center/readme/notifications.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
