### Connect to HubSpot

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Open **Settings → Integrations**

Go to **Settings → Integrations** in NationGraph.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Click **Connect** for HubSpot

Choose **HubSpot** from the CRM options.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Accept permissions

Complete the OAuth flow in HubSpot.

Accept the requested permissions to finish the connection.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Confirm connection

Return to NationGraph and confirm HubSpot shows as connected.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Configure customer identification

Open the HubSpot connection in **Settings → Integrations**. Select one company field and up to five values that mean **Customer** for your organization.

If you do not configure this setting, NationGraph uses **Lifecycle stage = Customer**. Customer matching is case-insensitive. An open HubSpot deal can classify a linked company as **Deal in Progress** when it is not already a customer; other linked companies are shown as **Prospect**.

### Use live HubSpot context

After an account is linked, NationGraph can show its customer or pipeline status and HubSpot owner across account and automation results. Open the account's **Interactions** tab to review notes, logged emails, and tasks. Email visibility depends on the permissions granted to the HubSpot integration.

Compass can also use linked HubSpot status, ownership, contacts, deals, notes, and logged emails when researching accounts or preparing outreach. CRM reads do not change HubSpot. Any write still shows a preview and requires your approval.

### Fetch & map your HubSpot accounts

Use this flow after the connection is live.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Open **Manage → Get Started**

In **Settings → Integrations**, open your HubSpot connection and click **Manage**.

Then click **Get Started**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose **Fetch all** or **Configure fields**

Use **Fetch all** when you want to pull every institution from HubSpot.

This includes public and private companies.

Use **Configure fields** when you need to isolate public-sector accounts.

You can filter by state, industry, or a SLED or local-government tag so private companies do not match into the set.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Map your primary and secondary fields

Use the strongest identifiers you have.

Primary fields:

* **company name**
* **NCES code** for K-12
* **IPEDS** for higher ed
* **FIPS** for state code
* **NationGraph ID**

Secondary fields:

* domain
* city
* state

You can also tell the AI you only target higher ed or K-12.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Run the search and review confidence

Start with a broad search.

NationGraph shows a **confidence score** for each proposed match.

Delete bad matches before you save.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Save matchings

Save the high-confidence matchings once the review looks clean.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://nationgraph.gitbook.io/nationgraph/help-center/readme/integration-overview/crm-integrations/hubspot-integration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
